AI: Harnessing the Power

TL;DL (Too Long; Didn’t Listen)

  • AI is already reshaping jobs—those who don’t use it risk falling behind
  • The best results come from humans + AI working together, not replacement
  • Businesses are using AI for documents, data analysis, tutoring, and decision-making—but accuracy and trust are still real challenges

Description

How are real businesses actually using AI right now—and where is it falling short?

In this episode of Real AI Use Cases: Business Owners Roundtable, host Elizabeth Gearhart and a panel of business leaders share practical, real-world applications of AI across industries including real estate, education, finance, and law.

You’ll hear how entrepreneurs are:

  • Streamlining leases and documents with AI (while managing risk)
  • Using AI to analyze business data and improve decision-making
  • Enhancing education with AI-powered tutoring support (not replacing teachers)
  • Implementing “AI for AI” systems to monitor and validate outputs
  • Navigating privacy, security, and accuracy concerns in real-world workflows

But this episode doesn’t just highlight wins—it also reveals the friction points:

  • When AI gives wrong answers (and what to do about it)
  • Why prompting still matters more than people think
  • The real risks of using AI with sensitive business data
  • How different tools (ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Copilot) produce very different results

One of the biggest takeaways:
The future isn’t AI replacing humans—it’s humans who know how to use AI outperforming everyone else.

What You’ll Learn

  • The most practical AI use cases for small and mid-sized businesses
  • Why AI accuracy is still a major limitation (and how to work around it)
  • How to think about AI in education, especially for young learners
  • The emerging concept of AI oversight systems (“AI policing AI”)
  • How AI is already influencing hiring, productivity, and business strategy
  • Why using multiple AI tools together is becoming the new normal

FAQs

What are real AI use cases in business today?
Businesses are using AI for document drafting, summarizing contracts, analyzing financial data, improving tutoring outcomes, and enhancing decision-making across departments.

Is AI replacing jobs right now?
AI is changing jobs more than replacing them. People who use AI effectively are gaining an advantage, while those who don’t risk falling behind.

Can AI be trusted for business decisions?
Not fully. AI is useful for speed and insights, but human oversight is still critical due to accuracy issues and hallucinations.

How is AI used in education?
AI helps analyze student performance and personalize instruction, but human teachers remain essential—especially for younger learners.

What are the risks of using AI in business?
Key risks include incorrect outputs, data privacy concerns, and over-reliance without verification.

Closing Thought

AI isn’t optional anymore—it’s a skill.
The real competitive edge? Knowing when to trust it, when to question it, and how to use it better than everyone else.

Transcript: Harnessing the Power of AI Real AI Use Cases – Episode 13 [00:00:00] The Reality Check: AI and the Job Market Elizabeth: What I'm hearing now is with the job market changing, the people that aren't using AI are the ones that are losing their jobs. Richard: This last week I had a complete and total dumpster fire with AI. I really wanted to throw my laptop against the wall. Todd: I use AI to basically streamline leases—drafting leases and drafting letters of intent. Jessica: There is so much hype right now around AI replacing teachers, and I want to push back on that. Chris: There's now AI that can watch other AI to keep it honest. [00:00:30] Show Introduction Speaker: This is Real AI Use Cases: Business Owners Roundtable with hosts Elizabeth Gearhart and Richard Gearhart. Here's how real companies are using AI right now. [00:01:00] AI in Real Estate: Drafting & Summarizing Documents Elizabeth: Let’s start with Todd—what’s one way you’re using AI? Todd: I use AI to streamline leases and letters of intent. It’s good at summarizing and drafting, but I don’t fully trust it yet for complex legal nuances. [00:02:00] AI in Business Operations: “AI Policing AI” Elizabeth: Chris, how are you using AI? Chris: Every department in our business has to implement an AI initiative each quarter. One exciting development is “AI police”—AI systems that monitor other AI systems to make sure they’re accurate and doing what they should. [00:03:00] AI in Education: Why Humans Still Matter Elizabeth: Jessica, how are you using AI? Jessica: In education, AI should enhance—not replace—humans. Young children learning to read need real human interaction. We use AI to analyze data and help tutors show up better prepared, not to replace them. [00:04:00] Teaching Kids to Use AI (Without Cheating) Chris: How are you handling AI with your kids? Jessica: We teach them how to use AI responsibly—how to prompt, question outputs, and think critically. It’s not cheating if used correctly—it’s a tool for learning. [00:06:00] Learning vs. Shortcutting: Where AI Fits Richard: I could use AI to answer my coursework—but I learn more by doing it myself first, then using AI to refine my understanding. [00:07:00] When AI Fails: Accuracy Issues in the Real World Elizabeth: Richard, how are you using AI in your business? Richard: I tried using Microsoft Copilot to analyze firm data, and it kept giving incorrect answers—even when the data was clear. It was frustrating and showed me AI isn’t fully reliable yet. [00:09:00] Prompting & Correcting AI Jessica: You actually have to correct AI when it’s wrong. You can guide it and improve the output. [00:10:00] Using Multiple AI Tools Together Elizabeth: I use ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity. Each one has strengths: Gemini can over-sanitize content ChatGPT preserves tone better You really need to use multiple tools depending on the task. [00:11:00] AI as Your “Board of Directors” Chris: There are tools now that aggregate multiple AI outputs and act like a “board of directors”—giving you synthesized recommendations. [00:11:30] Privacy & Security Concerns Elizabeth: Some AI tools can access your entire computer, which raises serious security concerns. Chris: Privacy is a huge issue—especially for law firms, healthcare, and any sensitive data. [00:13:00] The Future of Work: AI + Humans Jessica: Kids today will grow up managing AI systems. This is their future. Elizabeth: If you’re not learning AI now, you’re falling behind. [00:14:00] Automation, Robots, and New Jobs Chris: Companies like Amazon are rapidly increasing automation. AI will change jobs—but it will also create new ones. Elizabeth: Exactly—someone has to build, maintain, and fix those systems. [00:15:00] Closing Thoughts Elizabeth: This has been Real AI Use Cases: Business Owners Roundtable. Speaker: You’ve been listening to Real AI Use Cases.
